Making collages serve as sketches for me. Often these are one of the first steps within my process. For me, this is a way to get to visual material quickly. What I like about this medium is that it essentially consists of fairly simple and graphic forms. Before I started with these collages I read the (children's) book Greek myths heroes & thunder and lightning, from which I got most of my inspiration for these works. In the end, I scanned all the characters from the collages and traced them over in illustrator, then I put them together as a tableau, which I will work out as a tapestry.
